  1. When I’m flying into a new place, I always look out my window on landing to get my first look at the new land I’m going to be calling home for whatever amount of time I’m going to be there.

    What struck me upon landing at Osan was a large number of (mostly) light blue roofs. You don’t see it too much here in Seoul, for obvious reasons, but there were quite a few and they definitely stood out from the air.

    I read up a little and found that many of these buildings went up as a part of a project in the 70s, and blue was chosen to make people feel special, more or less.

    At that time, the only people who had blue roofs were wealthy people.
